My journey with IW began in 2019 when my wonderful friend Vee introduced me to the community. She took me on my first hike in Richmond, VA, and I had such a great time that I wanted more! In 2024, I joined the DC Hike Team as a Sponsorship Coordinator, and soon after, I stepped up to the challenge of Lead Coordinator. What keeps me involved with IW is the immense support and love we share for one another, as well as the mission itself. I know firsthand the power of having a strong support system during a mental health crisis. Fourteen years ago, I attempted suicide, and the circle of people who surrounded, supported, and helped me climb out of that dark place was life-changing. I found that same sense of community and support when I joined IW.

IW has become my passion project. I love seeing the positive impact we make in people’s lives every day. It’s also an outlet for my own healing. I enjoy helping others, and hearing their stories and testimonies is incredibly rewarding. Outside of IW, I spend most of my time outdoors—whether it’s on the softball field, exploring nature trails, taking impromptu camping trips with my youngest child, or training and playing with my four dogs.
